Amman, Sept. 24 (Petra) -- The Anti-Narcotics Department arrested 14 drug dealers and promoters in eight cases involving drug trafficking, promotion and smuggling in several areas across the Kingdom, seizing various quantities of narcotic substances, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said Thursday.
In one of the cases, officers in Balqa Governorate arrested a suspect after confirming that he was carrying heroin. One kilogram of the drug was seized from his possession.
In Amman, officers carried out two raids targeting two individuals classified as dangerous and wanted in drug-related cases at two separate locations. Both were arrested, and firearms and quantities of narcotic substances were seized from their possession.
In the southern city of Karak, authorities received information that two individuals linked to regional gangs involved in drug trafficking and smuggling were preparing a large quantity of narcotic pills for smuggling to a neighboring country. After verifying the information, officers raided the two suspects and arrested them, seizing 75,000 narcotic pills concealed in a secret compartment in a cargo vehicle.
In cooperation with the security agencies and Jordan Customs, authorities arrested a suspect at Queen Alia International Airport while he was attempting to receive a package containing half a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine.
In the Northern Badia areas, authorities dealt with three cases. In the first, officers raided the home of a drug dealer, arrested him and seized one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, 10 blocks of hashish and 4,000 narcotic pills. Another person who was with him was also arrested.
In the second case, officers tracked another drug dealer while he was transporting a quantity of narcotic substances toward Zarqa. He was stopped and arrested, and 7,000 narcotic pills were seized from his possession. In the third case, officers raided two individuals, arrested them and seized 4,000 narcotic pills from their possession.
In the final case, in Mafraq Governorate, officers raided a house used by drug dealers and promoters to store narcotic substances. Three people inside the house were arrested, and eight blocks of hashish were seized.
